“Roedes” is an installation consisting of a line of meticulously collected and peeled branches. Van Berkel worked together with Robin Janmaat in realizing this installation, during their residency at Kunsthal Kloof. The branches represent the water level of an imaginary space. Dowsing rods (which these branches represent) are said to be used to locate water.  By looking at  the branches, you will see them all pointing different  directions, but if you look closer, you’ll see the shadows all pointing in one direction; downwards.
